.For the flowers four long blue satin stitches crossing at right angles and fastened at the centre with a small blue cross are used, with four short orange stitches sewn from the cross, one in each division. Stem stitch is used for the stems and three satin stitches for each leaf.

.Orange satin stitches radiating from the centre are used for the flowers, and green stem stitch and loop stitches for the stem and leaves.

.Seven blue Y stitches with only a short stitch at the point are arranged in a circle for the flowers, the centre of which is filled with orange stitches, one from each point to the centre. Green running and loop stitches make the stem and leaves.

.The four petals of the flower are made with mauve Y stitches, three for each petal, getting smaller towards the centre. At the joining of the petals a small green loop stitch is added, and an orange French knot decorates the centre. The stem is of green stem stitch commencing with a Y stitch. The leaves are outlined with green stem stitch and filled with rows of running stitches or darning.

.The flower is worked in purple buttonhole stitches arranged with the loops at the centre leaving a small circle. The stems are in stem stitch and the leaves in loop stitches.

.The flowers already described are combined in the basket of flowers and arranged just as you would arrange an ordinary bowl of flowers, intermingled with green leaves. The basket is worked in brown herringbone stitches sewn at the crossing points with buff coloured back stitches, and finished at the top and lower edge with a line of the same coloured chain stitch.
